The Indore Press Club was founded in 1958 in Ahilya Nagari i.e. Indore by a group of journalist, with the aim to form a local association of journalists working in Indore, to encourage professional ethics and skills in the reporting of news; to guide a new generation of journalists; to contribute to the freedom and independence of journalists, and to work toward better communication and understanding among people.
Great journalists like Dr. Rajendra Mathur, Shri Rahul Barpute and Shri Manikchand Vajpayee have made valuable contribution towards the value addition in this club. Indore Press Club is the nerve centre of all media activities, both print and electronic.
Indore Press Club over the years has grown up to be a very prestigious and alert media center in the state. During the past years the Indore Press Club has become successful medium to provide social, cultural and political news to all. Indore Press Club has played a positive role in support of our city, state, country and society.
Achievements With all the struggles and valuable contributions made so far Indore Press Club has moved to a track of development. It has all the recreational and professional facilities including a cyber café and a telecom bureau. It also has a website of its own. The club is not a mere structure but something more than that. It is now an institution in its own right and a landmark in City of Devi Ahilya Bai . Footfalls of Presidents & Prime Ministers of several nations as well as other VIPs and eminent personalities had graced the Club. It is also a media hub for Press conferences, seminars and inter-active sessions for furthering excellence in journalism besides being in the vanguard of protecting Press freedom. The Club has also always risen to the occasion whenever there has been a crisis.
